Billy Dean Gillaspy , known to most as Bill, passed away peacefully of natural causes on April 5, 2026, in Ahwatukee, Arizona. He was 81 years old.

Bill was born on September 12, 1944, in Chariton Iowa, to Thomas Robert Gillaspy and Alice Veneta Gillaspy. He grew up in a big, close-knit family surrounded by brothers and sisters, and that sense of togetherness shaped everything about the man he became. Family was always at the center of Bill's world, and he carried that devotion with him throughout his entire life.

Bill was the kind of guy who was happiest when he was busy and he was almost always busy. He loved being out in the hills, cutting wood, playing cards, hunting and shooting also working on whatever project needed doing outside, and reloading ammunition. If something needed fixing, building, or tinkering with, Bill was your man. He had a real gift for working with his hands, whether it was helping a neighbor with a building project or getting under the hood of someone's truck. He never waited to be asked. If he saw a need, he just showed up and got to work.

Bill was deeply involved with his church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kearny, where he served faithfully and gave generously of his time and talents. He loved gathering with family and friends, and his warmth and willingness to help made him a cornerstone of the community.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Ray, Harry, Joe, Rex, Roy, and Glen Gillaspy; and his sisters Sis Gillaspy and Mary Alice Harris.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dian Sue Gillaspy; his sons, Samuel Dean ( Michelle ) Gillaspy and Stacy Dean (Mandy) Gillaspy and his daughter, Connie (Brian) Wallace along with numerous grandchildren, close extended family, and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
