Carol Jean Tanner was born on December 08, 1944, to her mother Agnes Temple (Davis) and Howard Leon Marcus in the town of Miami, Arizona. Carol passed away suddenly and peacefully in her home in Wheatfields Arizona on Friday, June 17, 2022.

Carol spent her entire childhood and adulthood years living in the mining towns of Globe/Miami. Carol went to school in Miami and eventually married Jackson Paul Tanner. Carol was preceded in death by Jackson who passed away surrounded by family on September 13, 2015. Carol and Jackson operated a family-owned business in the field of well drilling. When Carol finished beauty school, she opened her own beauty shop on their property in Wheatfields. She also dabbled in photography and did upholstery work. After retirement Carol took classes studying water in Arizona and would often go to lunch and visit with neighborhood friends.

Carol and her family also loved camping, hunting, and fishing together and she enjoyed raising mules.

Carol loved to reminisce about her childhood, what she describes as the most joyous time of her life, roaming and playing in the hills of Miami where her ashes will be spread at her explicit request. She loved watching westerns on television, gardening, watching the Phoenix Suns, Arizona Diamondbacks, Arizona Cardinals and the occasional golf tournament. She enjoyed hosting Thanksgiving for her family for decades as it was her favorite holiday.

Carol is survived by her son Bruce Leon Tanner and her daughter in-law Carol Tanner, daughter Barbara Lynn (Tanner) Lessard and her son in-law Steven Lessard, grandson Brandon Lee Tanner, and great-grandchildren. Carol was preceded in death by her brother Leroy Boss Nowlin and sister Dellamae Nowlin.

Celebration of Life services will be held at Bulman Miles Funeral Services in Globe on July 09, 2022 at 10:00 am.
