Our mother Catalina Leyva Martinez died on June 17, 2022, at the age of 94 after a long and full life.

Catalina married to our father, Juan Rodriguez Martinez on November 16, 1957, and lost him on June 22, 2008. Together they had four children, four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Most people would describe our mother as generous, humorous, highly intelligent, and wise, as well as creative and hardworking. Memories of mom include having no fear when encountering rattlesnakes; her competitive nature seen in the hours she spent decorating her hat for the Easter Hat contest or the costumes she would make for the Halloween Contest.

Some of mom's proudest accomplishments include becoming a naturalized US citizen, buying a home and acquiring her GED. Mom had a green thumb, made beautiful pinatas, was a great cook and loved singing.

Catalina is preceded in death by her husband Juan Rodriguez Martinez and son David C. Martinez.

Catalina is survived by her children, Dolores Martinez, Patricia A (Carlos) Martinez and Amy B Martinez (Alex Romero).  She also leaves behind her grandchildren Anthony Magana (Carrie Magana), John Gabriel Cervantes, Jaimie Lopez (Joseph Lopez), and Theresa Bianco (Alex Romero); and great-grandchildren, Gabriella Magana, Madison Magana, Allysa Magana, Luke Lopez, Presley Lopez, Gabriella Baca, and Angelina Baca.

She was loved and will be missed.
