David "Nini" Barreras age 73 of Superior, Arizona, passed away on October 22nd, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

David was born on May 4th, 1951, in Superior, Arizona where he spent most of his life. He began his career in 1970 as a Heavy Equipment Operator at Magma Copper Company (Superior, AZ) and transferred to BHP in San Manuel, AZ after they (Magma) closed a year later. He continued his career with BHP for 29 years until he retired in 1999. Throughout his career, he was known for his hard work, dedication, and passion for his career and supporting his family.

David "Nini" loved spending time with his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He enjoyed his Saturday gambling sessions, "pot-it!" as well as bingo any chance he could get. He was well known for his annual "Easter Camp" at the "Posta", where lots of laughs were shared. He always made sure to invite everyone and kept the tradition going for many years. The memories from generation to generation will last a lifetime, thanks to him. He was also a dedicated member to the Superior VFW Post 3584, where you could catch him having a cold one most nights. He enjoyed telling stories of his past and developed many friendships throughout his lifetime.

David "Nini" is survived by his loving wife, Maria "Tenchie" Barreras, brother Andrew "Andy" Barreras, children, Gabriel Munoz, David Jr., Michael, Joseph and Edward Barreras, grandchildren, Alicia, Jakob, Maria, Joseph Jr., Lauren, Mathew, Liana, Mason Anthony, and 10 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. His memory will be missed and cherished by all who knew him.

David "Nini" is preceded in death by his parents Ruben and Lucy Barreras, siblings Hortencia "Tenchie" Villaverde, Ruben "Titi," Richard "Richie," Raul "Lou Louie," son Anthony Barreras and Grandson Angel Munoz.
