Ernest Charles Munoz passed away at his home in Superior, AZ on June 27th, 2020 at the age of 65.

He was born to Doris & Charles Munoz on December 5th, 1954 in Phoenix, AZ.

The eldest of six children he grew up in Superior, and as a child was very involved with the Boy Scouts of America recieving all of his medals, badges and recognition for his participation.

He attended and graduated from Superior High School in 1974. During his school years he played the saxophone for the school band. His passion for music was a constant his entire life.

After attending a year of college at Arizona Western he returned to his hometown of Superior and began a career with the Magma Copper Mine until the mines closing in 1982. Following the closure, he spent five years working for immigration services until returning to BHP and then onto ASARCO to finish out his career in mining after which he retired.

He met his wife of 42 years Maria Munoz when they were children, but it wouldn't be till 1972 that they began their life together. They were married September 9th, 1978 and began their family. Raising two children and another child who passed in infancy.

In his retirement years Ernie enjoyed being home spending his time with his family, both immediate and extended.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years Maria Munoz, his son Christopher Munoz, his daughter Jennifer Munoz, his mother Doris Martinez, and his siblings Roseanna Ojeda, Hector Munoz, Ruben Munoz, David Munoz and Lisa Lannet.

He is preceded in death by his father Charles Q Munoz and his son Andrew Munoz.

He will be laid to rest at Fairview cemetery in his hometown of Superior, AZ after services at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Friday, July 31, 2020. Rosary 9:30 and Mass 10:00 a.m.

Ernie was loved and will be missed by many, but he lives forever in our hearts until we meet again.
