Jackie Frank “Jay” Cardwell 77 of Kearny Arizona went to be with the Lord on September 3rd 2026 in Globe Arizona. Jay was born on June 17th 1949 in McKinney Texas to John W. And Doris J. Cardwell of Wylie Texas. Jay’s family started traveling in 1958 due to his father was a commercial construction superintendent. They left Plano Texas for Leavenworth Kansas. In 1960 off to Altus, Oklahoma. In 1961 Albuquerque New Mexico. In 1962 the family relocated to South Rim of Grand Canyon. In 1963 to the Navajo Reservation in Teec Nos Pas. It was there in Teec Nos Pas Jay formed lifelong friendships. Jay was 14 when he moved to northern Arizona, learning to drive and making friends the group was known as the Teec Nos Pas rat pack. He returned to Texas for his senior year, graduating from McKinney High School in 1968. Joining the Army Jay was stationed in Germany from 1968 to 1970. Returning to Texas Jay after service he joined the IBEW, married, started a family, and remained in Texas for the next thirty odd years. Attending a 30 year Ship Rock High School reunion in 1998 Jay reconnected with old friends. This turn of events eventually led to him to move to Kearny, marry a former Ship Rock classmate Vicki and star a new life here in Arizona. Preceding death by wife Vicki of Kearny, brothers Johnny Cardwell of Kaufman Texas, Donald (Velma) Cardwell of Dallas Texas. Sisters; Betty (Bob) Marshall of Ainsworth TX, Lenora (Bob) Trimble of Lansing KS, Virginia “Red (George) East of Leavenworth KS. Parents John and Nell Cardwell of Wylie Texas. He is survived by daughter Kellie Cardwell of Dallas, Texas her husband Stephen Van Berg, brother Doug Cardwell and wife Susan of Wylie Texas. Those who knew Jay are saddened by his passing. Honesty and integrity were symbolic characteristics he was known for. His willingness to help others made him a reliable source of information and assistance within the community.
