Jacqueline Ja Stein, 79, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, surrounded by her family in Scottsdale, Arizona.

She was born in Blue Island, Illinois, and graduated from Thornton High School. Jacqueline lived in Illinois until 1980, when she and her daughter relocated to Arizona.

She worked as a reservation agent for Alaska Airlines for over 25 years and found great joy in helping others through her work. During the last twelve years of her career, she had the opportunity to work from home before retiring on October 1, 2020.

In 1991, Jacqueline met the love of her life, Michael. Together, they shared more than 34 years of marriage filled with love and companionship and shared many happy moments together.

Jacqueline had a special gift for making people feel remembered and celebrated. She loved creating photo collages for birthdays and special occasions, sending them as heartfelt messages to family and friends—her own unique version of a greeting card. Each New Year, she thoughtfully crafted handmade calendars, personalized with birthdays, anniversaries, and decorated with cheerful stickers and designs.

She was also known for her creative "name bugs," cleverly turning names—written forwards and backwards—into playful drawings. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling and participated in two leagues, where she excelled. Jacqueline loved Elvis Presley and had a special fondness for cats. She was known for her playful sense of humor, often asking, "What is a cat's favorite color?" followed by her punchline: "Purrrrple!"

A strong woman of faith, Jacqueline loved the Lord with all her heart. Her loving, kind, and genuine spirit touched everyone she met, and her compassion will be remembered always. Two of her favorite verses were, Psalms 46:10: "Be still, and know that I am God," and Proverbs 3:5–6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."

She is survived by her loving husband, Lt. Col. Michael Stein; her daughter, Sherri Davis (Anthony); her sister, Debbie Ormrod (Bill); and her three grandchildren, Jacalyn Brooks (Greyson), Keos Rosenblum (Ethereal), and Dennis Davis, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Billie Coppock; her brother, Randy Coppock; her sister, Andrea Bargiel; and her brother-in-law, Rick Bargiel.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
