Jessie Campos

Jessie was born on October 22, 1929 in Miami, Arizona and passed peacefully on November 17, 2022 in Chandler, Arizona. Jessie was the youngest of 5 children and lived her entire life in Miami, She graduated from Miami High School and in 1949, she married Vicente (Vito) Campos who preceded her in death in 2009. Jessie was employed by the U.S Postal Service for 24 years until she retired in 1990. She was a familiar face in the community as she walked her route delivering mail five days a week through the hottest summer and coldest winter days until she was later promoted to Postal Clerk and became a helpful, familiar presence behind the counter (where the weather was always pleasant).

Jessie was a loving daughter and always close to her siblings. She remained close to her brother Eugene until his death and enjoyed many visits to her brother Guadalupe (Pon) and his family in California. She was extremely close to her sisters Carmen and Mary and the three girls were inseparable. The deaths of her sisters truly left an empty place in her life and in her heart. She also became the main caretaker for her son, Bennie Jo until his death in 2008.

After retiring, Jessie was never one to sit idly. She volunteered with the Hospital Auxiliary, the Bullion Plaza Cultural Center and Museum, and the Senior Center. She and Vito were active with church activities and the Knights of Columbus. But overall, her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren who all have special memories of the time they spent with Grandma/Nana.

Jessie is survived by three of her children: Esther (Jim) Enriquez, Barbara (Bob) Carr, and Danny (Brenda Pierce), Grandchildren Kevin, Bryan, Erin, Rita, Carlos, Brittany. In addition, she is great-grandmother to nine and great-great-grandmother to one.

Although she leaves an empty spot in our hearts and lives, we are comforted in knowing that she has finally joined so many of her family members who have finally welcomed her home.
