Jimmy Bejarano entered into rest on August 12, 2021 at the age of 73. He was born on
February 13, 1948 in Miami, Arizona, the son of Santiago and Petra Bejarano. He was
a life-long resident of Arizona. Jimmy grew up in Miami, Arizona and attended Bullion
Plaza School and graduated from Miami High School. At an early age, he learned the
value of a good work ethic which he would later pass on to his children and
grandchildren. He washed windows at United Jewelry, worked at Bob's U-Save building
store cabinets when Bob Cochran and his wife were starting up their business. He also
worked with the Gila County Sheriff's office for a short time when there was still an
office in Miami. He worked as a meat cutter for many of the local grocery stores in the
Globe-Miami Area. He began his employment in 1967 for Inspiration Copper Company
and retired in 2009 after 42 years of service.
He married Virginia Encizo in 1965 and this past year they celebrated 56 years of
marriage. He was very proud of this and would never fail to mention to his friends how
long they had been married. Together they had four children, nine grandchildren and
three great grandchildren. He loved his family very much and enjoyed watching and
cheering for them in all their sports activities.
Jimmy loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and had a large collection of
mounted javelina, turkey, deer, and elk that he had harvested over the years. He and
the family spent a lot of time during the summer camping in the White Mountain
Reservation. He especially loved camping at Reservation Lake.
Jimmy loved his heritage and spoke often of how the Bejarano family came from New
Mexico to Miami, Arizona and how his mother came to live in Globe with her mother and
sisters from Safford, Arizona.
Jimmy was always eager to learn new things. He attended the local college and took a
lapidary and silversmith class. He made some beautiful pieces of Indian jewelry for his
wife and family. He saw an advertisement in a magazine offering a course to learn
taxidermy and he signed up for it. For several weeks he prepared all the lessons and
eventually started mounting the javelina, turkey and elk he had harvested.
Jimmy was life-long member of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church.
Jimmy leaves his wife Virginia, his daughter Michelle (Rudy), his sons James (Lilly),
Christopher (Anna) and Manuel (Crystal); Grandchildren Samantha (LP), Haley, Randy
(Christina), Manuel, Katherine, Annissa, Alejandro, Gabriel, Arianna; Great
Grandchildren Aiden, Corban, Kaitlyn; his sisters Alice Gonzales (Richard), Erlinda
Atilano (Turi) and Rosemary Gallegos, numerous nephews and nieces. He was
preceded in death by his parents Santiago and Petra Bejarano , sisters, Lolita Bejarano
and Dolores Gonzalez.
