Jose "Joe" Bustamante, 94, a longtime resident of Winkelman, Arizona, passed away on March 16, 2024, surrounded by his family.

Born on April 17, 1929, in Macdonald, Texas, Joe was the son of Juan Bustamante and Maria Valle. He spent the majority of his life in Arizona, where he met and married the love of his life, Carmen, in 1953.

Joe and Carmen were blessed with five sons: Joe, Tony, Wedo, Ernest, and Demacio. Joe dedicated over four decades of his life to ASARCO, where he worked as a Skimmer and Craneman in the Converter Department. He was a proud member of the International Union of Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers – which later became the Steelworkers Union.

Known for his humor, kindness, and tireless work ethic, Joe cherished spending time with his family. During his retirement, he stayed active, pursuing his hobbies, which included: walking, hunting, going to the casino, and caring for his garden and the neighborhood cat, Chapo.

Joe is survived by his wife Carmen, his sons Joe (Elva), Tony (Sonia), and Ernest (Martha), along with 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Anthony, and his sons Wedo and Demacio -- whose ashes are interred alongside him in the Kearny Cemetery.
