JOSEPH RICHARD AGUILAR
On Friday December 11, 2020 at Cobre Valley Medical Center, the Aguilar family lost their beloved
Joseph "Joey" R. Aguilar, 79, unexpectedly to complications of COVID-19. He was born November 10,
1941 in Miami, Arizona, the son of Pedro and Rosa (Galindo) Aguilar.
Joey graduated from Miami High School, Class of 1961. Following graduation, he married his high school
sweetheart and the love of his life, Ramona Carrizosa. Joey served four years in the U.S. Air Force,
Airman 1st Class, while stationed at the Travis AF Base, in California. He worked for over 30 years as a
pipe fitter at the local copper mine.
Joey and Mona celebrated 57 years of marriage in February. In addition to his parents, he was preceded
in death by his sisters Connie and Celsa. He is survived by his wife Mona, sisters Carmen, Chelo, Lucy
(Manuel), Lorraine, and brother Peter. Children Eddie (Roxanne), Yvonne (Joe), JP (JoAnne), Kimberly,
Rhonda (Keith), 18 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Joey, also known to many as "Butch", was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was
a devout Catholic who loved volunteering at his Church, Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament in Miami,
AZ. He enjoyed going on walks, listening to music, camping, playing sudoku and 6-5-4, and most of all
spending time with his family and friends. He had an amazing work ethic, strong faith, an infectious
laugh, and was always willing to help those in need.
A public service of remembrance & visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17th at Bulman Miles
Funeral Services 237 S. Sutherland St. Globe, Arizona, 85501. A private service will be held Friday, Dec.
18th at the Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church. The Rosary will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by
Mass at 10 a.m. Both services will be available via live stream on the family members' Facebook pages.
