On Saturday, June 4 ^th 2022, Our Lord God granted Josefina Torres her eternal rest. Known to most as Chepie, she was born April 28 ^th , 1934 in Higley, AZ. Chepie was brought to Hayden, AZ  as a newborn by her parents, Gomecindo and Jesus Cruz. In the sub-barrio of San Pedro called San Miguel she grew up around all her cousins, aunts and uncles. In 1955 she met and married Celestino P. Torres.  Next week would have been their 67 ^th wedding anniversary. Tino and Chepie raised four children in their home Carmen (Torres), Stella, Arnold and Priscilla (Torres-Westrope).

Chepie will be remembered as a loving, faithful and kind caretaker to many.  She served her church, community, family and friends with gentleness and devotion. Her humorous playful side will be missed by her family and all who knew her.

Chepie was preceded in death by her brothers Manuel, Edward, Ramon and Tommy Cruz, and a nephew, Gregory Cruz. She is survived by brothers George  and Anecleto Cruz and sisters Cecilia Ordaz and Rosie Ortega. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association at 340 E. Palm Lane #230, Phoenix, AZ 85004 or online in Josephine Torres' name.
