Jovita (Jovie) Avelar Corral, 84, went Home to the Lord on April 23, 2022 after a 5 year battle with cancer.

Jovie was born to Pedro and Guadalupe Avelar on December 16, 1937, in Sonora, Arizona. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Edward, her son Norbert (Barbara) and daughter Letitia. Her grandchildren Lindsay (James), Kit (Kim), Matthew (Kassandra), Alexis (Fabian), Katherine, and her great grandchildren Harper, Aydin, Lucy and WIlliam, her brother Jay (Miriam) and sister Maria Eliza (Alice) Ramirez. She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

Jovie worked in the Kearny Dental office for over 20 years and after her children graduated from high school, the family relocated to Mesa, Arizona. Her love of music, singing and stories from Sonora filled her days with joy. She also loved her large family that included many nieces, nephews, brother's-in-law and sister's-in-law. The love and kindness that was shown to her during her illness will forever be remembered and cherished.
