Jovita L. Guzman, age 88, was called home to our heavenly father on Friday, July 17, 2026 at 5:40 pm at Apache Junction Health Center. 

On September 11, 1938, Jovita "Vita" Guzman, was born to parents, Luis and Louisa Lagunas in Hayden AZ. She was the sister to Fred, Luis and David Lagunas. She attended Hayden schools.

Soon after, Vita laid down roots and raised four children; Lori Malone, Diana M. Montaño, Melinda Ybarra, Ricardo R. Montaño, and later also raised her grandson, Mario L. Montaño.

After a long courtship, Jovita married her late husband Andres Guzman in September of 1995.

Vita had 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 14 great great-grandchildren. She had numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and Godchildren.

She was a devoted catholic who attended St. Joseph's Catholic church, where she provided help and services to those in need.

Jovita found joy in traveling, baking, dancing, gardening, sharing funny jokes, and of course, cheering on Hayden High School sports teams.

Faith was a guiding light throughout her life. She was a devout catholic who found strength and comfort in her relationship with GOD. Her faith brought her peace, and she lived it quietly but consistently every day.

Jovita is survived by her daughter Melinda (Leo) Ybarra of Superior, and brother David (Mary Dee) Lagunas of Winkelman.

Preceded in death by husband Andres Guzman, daughters Lori (Jim) Malone, Diana M. Montaño, son Rick (Debbie) Montaño, parents Luis and Louisa Lagunas, brothers Fred (Dora) Lagunas, Luis Lagunas and granddaughter Marisela Ybarra
