A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather, LTC. (Ret.) Jesse Saenz Garcia, 74, of Superior, AZ, unexpectedly passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023 in Mesa, AZ. Jesse was born in La Union, NM on November 10, 1948 to parents Ramon and Maria Louisa (Saenz) Garcia. Jesse graduated from Superior High School and attended college at Arizona State University where he joined ROTC.

After college, Jesse enlisted into The United States Army as an officer and served his country for over 36 years, receiving many awards, medals, and recognition. Jesse was a Jump-master with the 82 ^nd Airborne Division and then worked in Counterintelligence with the Department of Defense, where he retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Jesse also work and retired from the United States Postal Service.

After Retirement, Jesse dedicated himself to the Town of Superior. He was the treasurer of the church, volunteered for the Superior Chamber of Commerce, the Churches annual fiestas, and the Bob Jones Museum.

Jesse was also the treasurer for the Superiorites, and he enjoyed meeting bi-monthly with his classmates at Buffalo Wild Wings. He was inducted and a recipient of the Arizona Hispanic Sports Hall of Fame.

Jesse was a family man. His (late) wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were his greatest accomplishment.

Jesse was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella Garcia; father, Ramon Garcia; brothers, Johnny Garcia, Ray (Virginia) Garcia, and Raul (Gloria) Garcia.

Jesse is survived by his brothers, Pete (Barbara) Garcia and Benny (Anthonette) Garcia; sons, Jesse (Celena) Garcia and John (Brooke) Garcia, and his daughter, Nina (Jesse) Barrera. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, Brianna (Paul) Garcia Colin-Lopez, Jesse (Jamie) Barrera, Jr., Zavier Garcia, Oliva L. Barrera, Jacob Garcia, Michael (Kirstin) Garcia, Gage Garcia, Adam Garcia, Esai Barrera, and Adrian Garcia; and great-grandchildren, Santana and Leila Barrera and Hazel Garcia.
