Mary Louise “Corky” Montano, 78, passed away on August 28, 2026. She was born on February 11, 1948, in Picher, Oklahoma, and shortly thereafter moved to Arizona with her family, where she would spend the rest of her life creating a home and a community filled with love.

Corky was a fantastic and loving mother to Rick Hensley, Tammy Hensley, and Francisco “Frankie” Montano. She was not only a devoted homemaker and an awesome wife, but also a hardworking woman who ran a restaurant for many years. She was a loving caretaker to her late parents and devoted much of her life to caring for others.

Corky had a special love for children and for the community she called home. She babysat many of the children in the area during an era when neighbors cared for one another and community meant family. She touched countless lives with her kindness, generosity, and willingness to always be there for those who needed her.

She was a beloved sister to Diane Gillaspy, Danny Rector, and Kenny Rector. She was also a proud and loving grandmother to Joscelyn Montano, Isis Montano, Taylor Montano, and Skyler Hensley.

Those who knew Corky will remember her beautiful smile, her loving heart, and especially her laughter. She had a gift for making people feel welcome, cared for, and loved. Her home, her heart, and her life were places where people could always find warmth.

Her passing leaves a tremendous emptiness in the hearts of her family, friends, and the many people whose lives she touched. The smile, the love, and the laughter she shared will be missed dearly throughout these mountains she loved .

Though she is no longer with us, the love she gave so freely will live on through her children, grandchildren, family, friends, and the countless lives she touched. Her memory will remain a beautiful part of this community she loved so much
