On Sunday, June 19, 2022, Mary Elena Macias, loving wife and mother, passed away at the age of 72 at her home in Superior, Arizona. Mary was born February 6, 1950 in Silver City, New Mexico and was raised in Miami, Arizona, where she would eventually meet her husband, Tommy Macias.  On August 8 ^th , 1970, the two married and over the course of their 52-year marriage would raise three sons, Dominic, Gabriel, and Michael, and two daughters, Mary Martha and Valerie.

Mary worked hard her entire life, but no matter how tired she was, she would always come home to care for her family. She had great compassion for her community, organizing fundraisers to raise money for those afflicted with illness, collecting food donations to help families with funeral services, and helping to put on community dances in Superior. Family and friends alike often turned to her for support as she was always willing to help those in need. Her fortitude through life's challenges was an inspiration for so many.

Mary loved to cook, dance, and sing. Everyone always looked forward to family gatherings when she would make the best menudo and tamales. At home, she enjoyed reading books and watching the wildlife in her backyard, especially "her cardinal." Her passing is a painful loss, but her life was a blessing and loving gift for so many.

Mary was preceded in death by her father, Thomas, her mother, Ysidora, and four of her seven siblings. She is survived by her husband, her five children, her sisters, Emily and Toni, and her brother, Valerio, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
