Mary Contreras Velásquez, age 90, died on December 6, 2019 surrounded by her family and friends at her hospital bedside. Mary was born in Superior, Arizona on December 29, 1928 and lived almost her entire life in Superior. She was a life-long home maker, raising eleven children and numerous grandchildren. She was a devout Catholic and practiced the faith all her life. She was a strong and kind woman, welcoming to all who came to the house. Along with feeding her own children, the neighborhood kids always found a place at her table set with food only a mother can make.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert and three sons, Estevan "Ephan", Alex, and Fernando "Fernie", and stepson Freddie Velasquez.

Mry is survived by her children are Richard "Viti" Velásquez, Teresa "Baba" Otero (Jerry Otero), Adelita "Apen" Velásquez, Fr. Marcos Velásquez, Virginia Velásquez, Andrea Velásquez Beltran, Andrew Velásquez and Angel Velásquez. She had 33 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 brothers (Patricio and Billy) and 2 sisters (Lupe and Frances).
