Melvin D. (Gumby) Gillock 78, won the victory over dementia, when he left this
world, and entered eternal life on Tuesday, December 1, 2020. He was born in Vallejo,
California to Barney and Lou Gillock. Lived in California all of his young life, never
finished school. He was working on water tunnels in LA when he met Louise (Mom)
in California in 1968. When his job went on strike there in 1970, Melvin and Louise
came to Globe, Arizona. They weren't here very long when he went to work for
Magma in Superior, they lived in Miami. Worked for magma until a strike occurred,
then we moved to Gallup, NM in 1978. Worked for Uranium mine there and came
back to Globe in 1981, he worked for 5-G fence co., down in phoenix went back to
work for Magma in San Manuel until they shut the doors in 1999? I may not have the
dates right, but I know that with 5 kids in the house, we never went without and there
was always food on the table. He was always working somewhere. Melvin was an
avid golfer loved car racing and loved his children and grandchildren. He is preceded
in death by his Parents, Barney and Lou, his sister June, younger brother David, and
Step-son Frank Padgett. He is survived by his wife of 52 yrs.' Louise Gillock, Stepchildren Sam Padgett, Kathryn Fansler, and Suzanne Sawyer (Michael), Frances
Kayona. Children, Diana Gillock, Teresa Sandoval (Tobias), Douglas Gillock
(Virginia), and Todd Gillock (Margaret). Numerous grandchildren and great
grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. We will miss him.
