Michael "Mike" D. Jones: age 79 of Gilbert, Arizona passed at home with his wife near him. Mike was born  June 20, 1945 to Robert D. and Mary "Vi" Jones in Columbus, Ohio. Mike graduated from high school at Arizona State School for the Deaf and Blind. He attended Mesa Community College as he continually grew his knowledge of the printing trade as it transitioned from the analog to digital age.

Mike's career spanned over 30 years at Motorola and General Dynamics as a machinist and printer. He was a man of great mechanical skill which he applied in diverse ways throughout his life.  He performed professional printing press repair and maintenance, completed training in aircraft mechanics, became a skilled clock and watch repairman, and kept his family's vehicles safe and dependable through the years. In his retirement years he especially enjoyed working on his motorcycle and tinkering with anything that would peak his interest.

Mike was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hiking, biking (both motorcycle and bicycle), hunting, fishing and exploring unique historic sites on the Sonoran Desert. He always had fascinating stories of AZ history and nature to share from his outdoor exploration.

Mike was a man of strong faith in God. He deeply loved his family and was always there for them as a hard working, loving provider who also prioritized spending quality time with his wife, daughter, grandchildren, brothers, nephews, nieces, and friends. He had an amazing sense of humor and a smile that would light up the room, to use one of his favorite expressions that is not "horse feathers".

Mike is survived by his loving wife Becky Jones, his daughter Priscilla  (Daniel) Barr and his grandchildren: Gabriel and Veronica Barr. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents Robert and Mary "Vi" Jones, His siblings: Paul (Judy) Jones, Lynn Jones and Glenn Jones.

Mike will be laid to rest surrounded by the desert mountains he loved. Gravesite services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at the Kearny Memorial Cemetery in Kearny, Arizona.

Services are entrusted to Griffith Mortuary in Kearny, Arizona.
