Born in Delhart, Texas to Gracia and Lionicio Palomar on December 21 ^st , 1927. Nicholasa Palomar Garcia (Nicky) was called home with our Lord on April 9 ^th , 2023. Nicky came to Miami in 1947 as suggested by the nuns at Good Shepard Convent in Las Cruses New Mexico. Being a novice and about to perform her last and final vows, it was customary for young novices raised in the convent to take time off and be with family in the outside world to make sure that their decision was the correct one. The outside world won out. While living with her mother Grace Barrientos Laguna and Stepfather Thomas (Tommy) Laguna and sister Juanita (Jenny) Montoya is then that she met Angel Jose Garcia-Medina, and Jenny met Lorenzo (Larry) Contreras and soon they all married around 1949. Not long after her marriage she and Angel Jose parted ways. She married again approximately three years later to Carlos Mejia and that union didn't last long. It was July 1955 that she met underground copper miner and musician Carlos A. Garcia and were united in Florence in 1956 and were happily married for 33 years until his death in 1989. Nicholasa had been a hard worker all her life working in public health cleaning services and retired from Cobre Valley Regional Health Center after over 20 years. Her hobbies were cooking and baking for others, especially during the holidays. She was a devout catholic with her home parish being our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church in Miami.

Called back home with our Lord before Nicky were parents Grace & Thomas (Tommy), sister and brother-in-law Jenny & Lorenzo Contreras and their three daughters: Jovita Contreras, Mary Jane Griego, and Grace Guerra, as well as stepson Carlos S. Garcia. Surviving members of her family are son Jose Angel Medina Sr. (Maria Louisa), Grandsons Jose Angel Medina Jr. and Thomas Manuel Medina (Sabrina), Mary Jane's daughter Jovita Griego and her family, and Great Granddaughters; Ashlynn Rose Medina (Jose's daughter) and Carlos S. Garcia's daughter Angela Ganey (Chris) from Burgaw, North Carolina, Thomas & Sabrina Medina's children; Kody Hlebichuk Medina & Kaley Ann Bradford (Andrew).
