Paul Boykin passed in peace with his family by his side on Friday,
April 11, 2020 at the age of 91. Paul was born to Benton and Elsie
Boykin on January 1, 1929 in Texarkana Arkansas. He grew up
on their farm in Texarkana where he discovered his love for fishing
and hunting.
At the age of 17 he made his way to Arizona to become a miner
where he met the love of his life Savannah Belle. He'd say, "She
was a good dancer and I could dance pretty good with her". They
were married January 3, 1948. A few years later on January 3,
1952 he entered into the United States Army where he served in
Germany and then as an Army Reserve. Paul and Savannah raised
two beautiful children, Cindy and Ben during their time spent in
San Manuel and Globe.
Paul was an underground miner and explosive specialist
throughout New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona and W. Virginia. Paul
and Savannah loved their adventures as he Paul trmap mined
throughout the southwest. Paul was always up to try new things
from running a bar in Safford to gold panning and even restoring
an old vintage car. Paul spent many of his days working in his
garden and hunting deer, elk squirrel, and ducks. On any given
spring or summer day you could find him at the river or lake
fishing. But one of his favorite activities was to attend his
grand-kids sporting events where you would find him in the stands
cussing the refs and cheering the kids on.
Paul was a good man. He was hardworking, honest and would give
a stranger or a friend the shirt off his back. Above all Paul was a
family man. He loved being around his family and enjoyed their
family trips to his property in Colorado.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife Savannah (1986) daughter
Cindy (2001). His parents Benton and Elsie Boykin and brothers
Jackson, and Richard Boykin. He was a loving father to Benton
Boykin (Kellie). He adored his grandchildren Athena Gooding
(John), Britney Boykin and Jacob Boykin (Ashley) and his great-grandchildren Skyley Tarron (James), Jaxon Boykin, Brynley
Gooding and Ayla Boykin. He will be missed by his nephew Billy
Boykin and niece Doris Ruth Cassidy.
Paul will forever be remembered for the great man he was.
