Petra (Patty) DaRugna

Petra (Patty) Ledesma DaRugna left us to be with our Lord on March 28, 2026. Patty was born on June 5,1935 in Superior AZ to Alberto and Maria Jimenez. One of seven children, she was preceded in death by her husband Jesus (Jess), her parents, her sisters Hortencia, Bertha and  Annie and her brothers Jesus and  Albert. Patty is survived by her daughter Gerry and Gerry's husband Elias Alonzo, her daughter Monica DaRugna, and her sister Rebecca Delgado.

After attending Superior High School, Patty worked at Daniel's clothing store. Her love for fashion was evident at a young age and she could be seen wearing a new dress (some she made herself) for every occasion, complimented by matching shoes and jewelry. This was particularly important to her for the many dances and parties she attended.

In May of 1960 Patty married Jess DaRugna who she met after he returned home from the Army. They were soon blessed with their first daughter Gerry and several years later their daughter Monica arrived making their family complete. Patty not only spent her time taking care of her children and their home, she also helped other families like the Muros, the Quiroz' and the Munoz' by babysitting for them. She was also known for crocheting beautiful baby blankets for family and friends whenever there was a new little blessing.

Patty was a member of the Los Reyes Social Club and enjoyed attending all of their events including the annual Black and White dance. In addition, she helped run the cake walk for the fiestas at St. Francis to raise money for the church. Saying her prayers, going to Mass, lighting candles, and praying the rosary were and continued to be Patty's priority.

In her later years, although she spent most of her time at home, Patty could always be found nicely dressed with her hair and makeup done in case she had visitors. She had developed a love/hate relationship with the Diamondbacks depending on how they were playing and enjoyed attending an occasional game. She spent much of her time watching TV late into the night and The Bold and the Beautiful every day. She also enjoyed talking on the phone with friends and family, going on outings for ice cream, and to the dollar store to purchase greeting cards to send out for holidays and birthdays.

Services for Patty will be held on Friday, April 17th at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Superior. The viewing will be at 9:00AM, the Rosary at 9:30AM, and the Mass at 10:00AM.

Rest in peace Patty. You will be missed!
