On Wednesday, November 24th, 2021, Raymond LaBrada Verdugo of Globe passed away at 75 years old with his daughter at his side. He will be lovingly remembered by his only daughter Raelene (Jeremy) Zaragoza and his only grandson Joshua Raymond Boyd. He also had 2 stepsons that he kept in touch with and loved like his own. Dave Tavares and Bill Tavares, 4 step-grandkids, and 4 great step-grandkids. As well as numerous relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his only son Anthony Raymond Verdugo, his brothers; Ernesto, Victor, Gene and Roger; and his parents Victoriano and Elvira Verdugo.

Ray was born in Clifton AZ on March 13th, 1946. He joined the marines after high school and was honorably discharged in 1971 after serving in the Vietnam war. Ray then moved to globe and began working as a lead maintenance mechanic for Miami Inspiration Copper until he was medically retired in 1983. While working there all the guys on his crew called him Teddy bear because he was a large burly man with a big heart. He then became a stay at home dad and was super involved in his kids activities; from football to wrestling to twirling practice, he was always there.

He loved Christmas time and playing Santa every year bringing joy and happiness to family and friends. He loved his car named "The lonely guy", lowriders of all kinds, Harley Davidson motorcycles and reading. He was spoiled by his sister Irene often, he spent lots of mornings by having her make him his favorite- enchiladas with a bubble egg on top. He always made time for his compa JR Deanda being able to just hang out doing guy stuff and making memories together. He had the best jokes and was the life of the party, his laugh was contagious and will definitely be missed.

He was the state chaplain for the Fraternal Order of police and was an active member of the American Legion and VFW.

Ray was a heart transplant survivor of 25 years and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Donor Network of Arizona Education Fund 2010 W, Rio Salado Parkway Tempe AZ 85281. Please include Ray's name so they know on whose behalf you are making a contribution.
