Richard Martin Rogers, 85, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2022, in Gilbert, AZ.  Richard was born to Martin and LaVaun Rogers on July 2, 1937, in Tucson, AZ.  The oldest of three children, he is survived by his sister, Rie Mitchell of Calabasas, CA; and his brother, Bob Rogers of Scottsdale, AZ.

After graduating from Tucson High School, Richard received his bachelor's degree in history from the University of Arizona followed by a master's degree in history from the University of Wisconsin.  He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Minnesota.

Professionally, Richard taught government and history in public schools across Arizona and California for two decades.  He later went back to school to receive his Funeral Director's license.  He and his wife, Frances, eventually owned and managed Griffith Mortuary and Superior Funeral Home, serving and supporting the families in the Copper Basin Area for over twenty years.

Richard was known for his love of music and as a masterful player of the piano and organ.  During retirement he enjoyed musical and ballet performances, traveling with family, serving in the temple, and spending as much time as he could with his grandchildren.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Ann Griffith Rogers.  He is survived by his son, Marc Rogers and his wife Allyson of Gilbert, AZ; his son, Lance Rogers and his wife Louise of Riverton, UT; his daughter, Diana Rogers of Sedona, AZ; his daughter, Alissa Molden and her husband Rick of Longmeadow, MA; and his twelve grandchildren - who he adored most of all.
