Sophia Acosta Trujillo, age 95, of Miami, AZ passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on April 3, 2021, in Mesa, AZ.  Sophia was born on December 4, 1925, to Jose Maria and Laura Acosta in Miami.  She graduated from Miami High School in 1945 and married Fernando Trujillo on January 3, 1948.  She worked at Miami High School as part of the cafeteria staff, where she blessed so many for 15 years.  After retiring, she volunteered teaching English to students at Las Lomas Elementary School in Miami.  She was a devoted Catholic and active member of Our Lady of Blessed Sacrament Church and often volunteered with funeral receptions.  For many years she was also an active member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Post 1441.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, and crocheting for her family and friends, and doing word search puzzle books.  Nothing brought her more joy than being around family, watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Many remember Sophia as having a beautiful personality that made everyone feel welcomed and loved.  Her warm heart and contagious laugh will truly be missed by all, "Andale."

Sophia is preceded in death by her husband, Fernando Trujillo, her parents, Jose Maria and Laura Acosta, her brothers Joe Acosta and Patricio Acosta and her sister Micaela Therrell.  She is survived by her children, Richard (Charmaine) Trujillo, Arnold (Margie) Trujillo, Annette (Michael) Sanchez, her sisters Lupe Acosta Siqueiros and Teresita Bautista, along with 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

Services will be held on Thursday April 15, 2021, with Visitation at Bulman Miles in Miami at 9:00 a.m.  A private Rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, with a private Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will be held on Friday April 16, 2021, 9:00 a.m., at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Mesa, which is open to the public.  Masks must be worn.
