Walterio "Walter" Carrillo Romero, 87, of Dudleyville, AZ, passed away in his home on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. Walter was born on July 15, 1935 in Hayden, AZ to parents Jose and Carmen (Carrillo) Romero.

At 17 years old, Walter joined the Armed Forces and served as a Master Sergeant in the Infantry in the Korean War where he received a purple heart for being injured in combat. He also received a Combat Infantry Badge, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and a Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars.  He was a member of the Wolfhounds.

Walter was well known in the community. He and his wife, Teresita, made fresh panela cheese. He would sell to the tri community. He was proud of his ranch and always had a large garden.

Walter is preceded in death by his loving wife, Teresita, his parents Jose and Carmen, his siblings; Luciano Romero, Frankie Romero, Artemisa Contreras, Carlotta Martinez, Carmelita Aguirre, Josefina Contreras, Catalina Zapata and a great grandson, Abel Rivera.

Walter is survived by his children; Walter (Laura) Romero, Mary Helen (Thomas) Sims, Abraham (Barbie) Romero, Esther (Cecilia) Romero, and Terri Gardner; his brothers Robert (Betty) Romero, Guillermo (Yolanda) Romero, and Jose Romero. He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren 23 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
